INTERVENTION ACCOMPLISHED IN 1994
The flat of 60mq is situated in the vicinity of Porta Venezia, in Milan, inside a Liberty style building dated 1904. It’s façade shows all its ancients splendor, thanks to a careful and effective conservative restorarion intervention. It is reached by one of the entrances which leads to an internal yard, through irregular stairways made in beola and grit-decorated plated steps.
The original space distribution was typical of that age, a long central corridor through which there was the entrance to the different rooms: because of this it has been necessary to carry out a radical intervention which had to meet the living requirements of the new owner. Also, due to the unsteady condition of the cocrete slabs, along with the deficiency of the electric and hydraulic system, and the building works demolition, it has been necessary to carry out radical works of structural consolidation.
During the restoration works the original weaving of the outside walls made by adobes were discovered . They were partially brought back to light and were emphasized as much as possible: this factor lead all the rest of the project.
